The first Tour de Grove is coming to our local neighborhoods this summer on June 12 and 13, 2010.
The bicycle-filled weekend will start out on the 12th with events open to professional, amateur, and children cyclists at the Midtown Alley Grand Prix Cycling Race during the day, followed by Street Sprints and Drag Races at night in the Grove neighborhood. (Cyclists of all experience are welcome, though they must dress in drag.) Sunday’s Tour de Grove will start with an open 5K run, but cycling races are designated for professional cyclists only. The races will run from 15 to 79 miles through the streets of Forest Park Southeast.
Started in O’Fallon in 2006 as the Tour de Winghaven, the races attract hundreds of spectators and racers, including top professional cyclists and teams. It has become the highest paying single day race in Missouri.
Not a cyclist? No worries, there will be other cycling-related cultural and art events for you to enjoy.
